First Amendment Defense Act: Jim Crow and gay marriage

The Republican National Committee has decided to back the First Amendment Defense Act which essentially permits anyone to refuse to provide services to any gay married person or gay married couple who claims to have a religious objection to gay marriage. Plainly this “Act” mirrors the proposed law introduced earlier this year by Bob Marshall here in Virginia.  What this means is that if you are gay and married, and you happen to need emergency medical care and the provider you happen to present to is opposed to gay marriage citing his or her religious beliefs, you are out of luck.  This would apply to not only private businesses like the cake bakers of the world, but also police officers, firemen, or anyone else.  This is truly tragic and exemplifies why the GOP is so out of touch.  Can’t wait to see who they will offend next.  All immigrants have been slandered.  Will this be extended to all brown eyed people?  Smells a lot like fascism to me.  Sorry, I had to say it. 2000px-Rainbow_icon.svg
