Give Hal Parrish credit for a 3 out of 10 rating for Osbourn High School

I couldn’t help but notice that on his FaceBook page Candidate Hal takes credit for the Manassas Public Schools “world class education.” I guess that doesn’t extend to to Osbourn which received a rating of 3 out of 10 for Great Schools in Virginia.  Yes, there are some very positive programs in the schools.  But those who will do well, will do well in any environment.  School ratings improve when there is funding and support available for those who do less well or who aren’t motivated.  And heaven help us if any extra help is given to those who do not speak English as their first language.  I’ve never heard an original idea from Hal as to how to address this deficit.

What’s even more galling is Hal’s post where he celebrates Martin Luther King’s “I have a Dream Speech” which was given 52 years ago yesterday.  How he can relate that speech to his campaign is beyond me.  The only time he has ever done anything that merits comment (and not in a good way)  was when he voted with Aveni to require special use permits for abortion clinics. He is nothing more than an empty suit looking for votes with no intention of serving everyone in Virginia’s 29th Senate District.  More to come.
