Scaring out votes: GOP strategy

I’ve been taking a break from this blog as I have a “real” part time job where I’m just starting to get into the groove.  But I can’t sit by and listen to the garbage and rhetoric being regurgitated by the GOP regarding the Syrian refugees not to mention Ben Carson’s WAPO editorial piece today.  Let’s get to that first.

Carson is obviously not paying attention.  Every single one of his “suggestions” is exactly what the Obama administration and our allies are doing right now.  And sometimes our enemies are our friends when he all have a common enemy which is ISIS.  Apparently, the US has the best intelligence on ISIS which is being utilized by France to launch attacks against ISIS.  Russia and Iran are also using such intelligence to what Trump characterizes as bombing the “****” out of them.  So Carson, where is the head of the snake?   Carson is apparently unaware that the Dabiq, the ISIS center where these morons believe the end of the earth will occur, has been bunkered making the bombing more problematic.  Caron’s analysis is so superficial which is expected given that it is being expressed by someone who has no business involved with foreign affairs.

But let’s return to the refugees.  The GOP just loves to scare the hell out of Americans.  The notion as presented by the GOP is that “hundreds of thousands” of Syrian refugees will come streaming into the US with terrorists “sneaking in.”  This is the Trump tactic.  First of all it’s 10,000+.  Already more than 1000 have entered.  What is most ridiculous is that every single day, thousands visitors with foreign passports and visas, enter legally.  They fly into international airports and disseminate into the US.  Why on earth would these few refugees, who will probably have much greater scrutiny, be likely terrorists more than the “visitor” who just got off the last Turkish Airlines flight or even a Lufthansa flight or, for that matter, any flight from anywhere overseas.

But heaven forbid.  Let’s not be logical.  Let’s just scare the hell out of voters so they believe that they can only be saved by ignorance and xenophobia perpetuated by the right.  Someone needs to confront these untruths in strong fashion.  Are there no intelligent Republicans?  Or is everything so political that truth cannot emerge?
